Journalist claims Jacob Elordi 'grabbed him by the throat' in altercation (2024)

A journalist has spoken out after Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi was allegedly involved in an ‘altercation’ outside an Australian hotel.

The Euphoria and Kissing Booth actor, 26, was reportedly socialising at the Clovelly Hotel in Sydney for several hours before getting into the alleged argument withKIIS FM radio employee Joshua Fox.

TikTokker Fox was said to have approached Elordi for a comment in front of the venue.

Elordi reportedly took offence at one of his questions, as first reported in The Daily Telegraph, Australia and an altercation broke out at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

Police told Metro.co.uk this weekend that they were investigating after a 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 26-year-old man in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

‘Inquiries into the incident are continuing,’ the police said, adding the man – whom they took a statement of – did not sustain any injuries. No charges had been laid.

Authorities are reportedly yet to speak to the other party and are said to be reviewing CCTV.

Later on this Sunday (Monday in Australia), Fox gave an interview to The Kyle And Jackie O Show in which he recalled his version of events.

Discussing the incident on-air, the audibly shaken journo allegedthat Elordi grabbed him by the throat and shoved him against a wall.

He explained how he was sent to the Clovelly Hotel by his radio station to create a video of Elordi, who he said was there with two men and a woman.

Fox said he waited for the Netflix actor to leave the venue before approaching him.

Following the viral memes of his Saltburn bathwater scene involving Barry Keoghan, Fox jokingly asked Elordi for a sample of his water as a gift for host Henderson.

After doing so, he alleged Elordi ‘got up in his face’ and ‘backed him against a wall’.

He said the star’s two male friends surrounded him on either side, preventing Fox from moving.

Fox claimed Elordi demanded that he delete footage of the incident.

When he refused, Fox was reportedly ‘intimidated’ as Elordi started ‘acting aggressively’.

He then alleges that Elordi ‘flipped’ and grabbed him by the neck before one of the male pals pulled Elordi away.

‘[He told me], “Make sure that video goes nowhere. Make sure you tell no one about this”, making me shake his hand. Again, I felt intimidated by it,’ Fox recalled.

Audio from Fox’s encounter with Elordi was also played on the morning radio show.

In it, he tells the actor he is a big fan of Saltburn, to which a seemingly annoyed Elordi replies: ‘You’re kidding.’

‘Are you filming?’ he then asks, with Fox confirming he is.

‘Can you not, man, please?’ says Elordi.

While Fox did stop filming and eventually delete the footage, it’s claimed he was able to restore it from his ‘recently deleted’ folder.

As well as working for the radio station, Fox also runs the Married At First Sight Instagram page MAFS funny.

Meanwhile, Elordi found overnight global fame when he appeared in the disturbing, viral film Saltburn alongside Keoghan, Rosamund Pike, Richard E Grant, and Carey Mulligan.

He plays aristocratic Oxford student Felix Catton, who becomes the subject of OliverQuick’s (Keoghan) obsession, and chaos ensues.

The role earned him a Bafta nomination for supporting actor, taking his career to new heights after he portrayed Nate in Euphoria.

Elordi is back in his home country ahead of the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast on February 10, for which he is nominated for best supporting actor.

His next role will be inGuillermo Del Toro’sFrankenstein adaptation forNetflix, in which he will play the iconic monster.

The Priscilla actor joins the likes of Infinity Pool’s Mia Goth andMoon Knight actor Oscar Isaac, who will play Dr Frankenstein.

Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, and Christian Convery are also set to star in the film, which does not yet have a release date.

Director, writer, and producer Del Toro is best known for his work on Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Pacific Rim.

Metro.co.uk has contacted KIIS FM and Jacob Elordi’s reps for comment.

Methods of Delivery

There are four main methods of delivery in public speaking: impromptu speaking, extemporaneous speaking, manuscript speaking, and memorized speaking. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice of method depends on the specific speaking context.

Structuring the Speech

Organizing speeches is crucial for improving clarity of thought and increasing the likelihood of the speech being effective. Disorganized speeches can lead to a lack of understanding and may cause the audience to perceive the speaker as unreliable or not credible .

Types of Evidence

In public speaking, examples are used to explain, clarify, or illustrate the topic being discussed. There are three types of examples: brief examples, extended examples, and hypothetical examples. Each type serves a specific purpose and is used based on the length and nature of the speech .

Introductions and Conclusions

Effective speeches often begin and end with impactful introductions and conclusions. The conclusion should wrap up the presentation by providing a summary of what the audience was supposed to have learned or been persuaded to do during the presentation. It is also important to connect the conclusion directly to the attention-getter/introduction to allow the audience to come full circle .
